Do you know a gals (or are you a gal) who: -Hoards plants
-Spends a lot of time watering plants and trimming dead leaves
-Often stops what they’re doing to “go look at the plants”
-Calls you over to also look at their plants
-names their plants -enjoys the company of plants over most people
Well... congratulations! You are or are in the company of a plant lady! Lucky you! Ok bye, gotta go check my plant babies. 🌿☘️🍀🍃🌱🌵
My mom and grandma taught me how to sew (which was my first love) We were all together in Japan at least once a year when I was younger and we would spend time making things. They taught me patience for taking out knots out of thread and talk about fabric colors and prints (and so many stories!). Working on our projects side by side was wonderful. I would be so lucky if I resembled the strength, patience, and loving nature of my mom and grandmother in any way. I would be totally ok with that.
Happy Independent Bookstore Day! Headed off to grab a new book, some coffee, and find a grassy spot in the park... what could be better?! Not only are indie bookstores essential to our communities, but they support so many small businesses too (like me). Support local! Buy books!! 📚
Tucked away in Barbara’s (my press) manual was a single invoice from Larkin Press, the print shop of her previous owner Francis. Francis was the sole owner of this press, lovingly oiling her long after he was unable to print. He passed away in his 90s but when Joel, Katherine, and Annemarie retrieved her, the last thing Francis printed was still in the lock up. “Thank you for being you”, it said. I took a walk over to the address on the invoice, now a Chinese market, and walked around. The ladies behind the counter kept an eye on me as I wandered the aisles, dreaming of where Barbara and Francis use to work. This is exactly why I love old things... they come with a story.
Babs, Spring looks good on you. We’re sitting and drinking coffee, basking in the warm sun before the busy day.☀️
